Taking into account the nature of Parent field in Cloud Jira versus Parent Link field in Data Center/Server Jira, there are some differences when it comes to Advanced Roadmaps advanced hierarchy support by Gantt Suite depending on the app version.

The currently detected functionality limitations are next:

  • in Table, ‘Parent Link’/Parent column, the issue picker does not show any issue suggestions, once a user tries to inline edit the parent value for a given task

  • for a particular task, a user can practically select any issue to become parent via inline editing in Table as the issues in issue suggestions are not filtered in accordance with Jira Plan

  • for the column ‘Parent Link’/Parent in Table, the issue picker is case sensitive. Meaning, a user has to type in the whole issue key in upper case letters for the issue to be inserted successfully, once ENTER key is clicked.

The Plan hierarchy level creation and editing is not supported as Gantt chart, once configured, is based strictly on existing Plan in Jira.

Not sure what Jira version you’ve been using, Cloud or Server/Data Center?

The easiest way to see if you are on Jira Cloud or Server/Data Center is to look at the menu, if the main menu for Jira has category Apps you are on Jira Cloud. If the apps are directly at the main menu you are on Jira Server/Data Center.
