Company Calendar Planner for Jira v 5.7.x: Creating and Editing Events, Planning Mode

Create and edit events for sources that have type "Business trips", "Meetings", "Sick days", "Vacations and leaves" or custom event types

In order to create an event based on a particular source, that source has to be enabled, on the left panel. Otherwise the source will not be visible for selection, in 'Create Event' dialog. If no single source is enabled, on the left panel, the user would not be able to create any event.

To create a new event, user can just click on appropriate day or drag a time slot, in a calendar, if day or week mode is opened, in time view. As result, the "Create Event" dialog is shown.

Starting version 4.3.x, users can see the estimated event duration if editing the end time for the event:

Some event types require a user to enter users, project or issue. Please make sure to fill in all the required fields. All mandatory fields, starting version 4.1x, are marked.

In case an event description contains a link it will be clickable should it be configured to be displayed on event’s information dialog.

For the custom events, make sure that a link is inserted in the format that is shown below in order for the link to be clickable.

Events created via Company Calendar for Jira can be edited, deleted or copied. In order to do that, a user just has to click the appropriate event and then, click "Edit", "Copy" or "Delete" button:

Create and edit events for "Jira dates" based sources

The event creation for Jira dates based sources would differ, depending on the source configuration.

For instance, a user has created Jira dates source that has a single date picker, "Due date".

After clicking or selecting the time area in a calendar, the "Create Event" dialog appears.

When creating an event based on the source above, a user can either select an existing Jira issue or skip the field Issue completion and let a new Jira issue be created.

Since the project has been set for the source at the time of its configuration, it cannot be changed by a user at the time of the event creation.

Another situation, when a user has configured the Jira dates source that has a range of dates. In our example the date range consists of two date-time pickers.

Once a user has selected a time slot by dragging on calendar, in time view, the values for the start and end times are filled in automatically based on the user's selection.

In case the user creates an event based on date-time range, in the monthly view, the start and end times for the event are-prefilled based on user's settings for "Start / End Hours" and "Default Event Minutes". Of course, in both cases, the values for start/end times can be changed if necessary.

For instance, a user has configured a source with the range of dates, Created-Updated.

As result, when editing the created event, a user will not be able to change the automatically populated by Jira fields, Created and Updated.

Starting version v 5.0.x, the event summary is fully visible event for short events:

For a given day, the events are sorted based on their start time, duration, and/or summary:

In case a user hasn’t selected an existing issue, on Create Event dialog, the “Create” link will be show. In case a use has selected an existing Jira issue, the link “Edit will be shown. “Please see below.

For instance, a user has configured a Jira dates source and added the field Component/s to the source configuration.

The field Component is non-editable on Create Event dialog.

Although, a user can click the link Create/Edit link and fill in the field Component Please see below.

Once the issue is created, the Jira dates event based on the issue appears on a calendar. If the event is double clicked, the value for the field Component is shown.

Planning Mode

To open a planning mode please click Planning button located on the left panel:

Starting version v 5.0.x, besides planning the events based on Jira dates sources, users can plan the events based on the custom sources as well (e.g. Meetings, Vacations and leaves, etc.)

Thus, the Planning mode has changed its view. Now, there are two tabs, in Planning mode: "Jira" and "Custom-defined".

On the tab "Jira", you'll be able to see the issues for Jira dates sources. The tab "Custom-defined" shows the issues for the custom-defined sources.

To plan the event simply drag-and-drop an issue onto the calendar. If the issue that user drags from the planning panel onto a calendar can be planned based on more than one available sources, the 'Select date or range' (if planning for Jira dates sources) or the "Select source" (if planning for custom-defined sources) dialog appears. Here, a user selects the source.

On both tabs, "Jira" and "Custom-defined", users can apply either Text or JQL filter in order for the relevant issues to be shown on the planning panel.

For instance, on the screenshot below, the JQL filter "status = "To Do" AND priority = High" was applied to the planning panel:

For your convenience, starting version v 5.0.x, the priorities are shown for the issues, on the planning panel.

Note that the option "Show unplanned only" is only present on the tab "Jira", and can be used only for the issues that are planned based on Jira dates sources.

Now, in Planning mode, users are able to delete just created or edited events, including the ones that are based on Jira dates by clicking the Delete button.
