Create Events from Existing Jira Issues
Creating events from existing Jira issues allows you to schedule work that has already been created in Jira. When you select an existing issue, Calendar automatically retrieves the issue information and populates the event with the configured field values.
This approach is ideal when you want to visualize existing Jira work on your calendar without creating duplicate issues.
Before You Begin
Before creating a Jira Date Event from an existing issue, ensure that:
a Jira Date source is available for your calendar;
the Jira issue already exists;
you have permission to view and edit the selected issue, if required.
Create an Event
To create a Jira Date Event based on an existing issue:
Click a date on the calendar or drag across a time slot in Day or Week view.
Select the appropriate Jira Date source.
Begin typing an issue key or summary in the Issue field.
Select the required issue from the list of suggestions.
Review the event details.
Click Save.
Once saved, the event appears on the calendar using the color configured for the selected Jira Date source.

Automatically Populated Information
When you select an existing Jira issue, Calendar automatically populates the available information from Jira.
Depending on your source configuration, this may include:
Issue Type
Summary
Assignee
Description
Start and End Dates
Priority
Labels
Components
Fix Versions
Custom Fields
Editable fields can be updated before saving the event.
Working with Date Range Events
If the selected Jira Date source is based on a Date Range, the event duration is calculated automatically.
When creating an event in Day or Week view, dragging across the calendar populates the start and end date and time based on your selection.
When creating an event in Month view, the start and end times are calculated using your personal User Settings, including your default start time and event duration.
You can adjust these values before saving the event.

Working with Additional Jira Fields
Administrators can configure additional Jira fields to appear during event creation.
If additional fields are configured, they are displayed automatically after selecting an issue.
Existing values are retrieved from Jira and can be updated before the event is saved.
Examples include:
Labels
Priority
Components
Fix Versions
Custom Fields
Working with Read-only Fields
Some Jira fields cannot be modified because they are managed automatically by Jira.
Examples include:
Created
Updated
Resolved
Last Viewed
If an event is based on one of these fields, the corresponding date is displayed as read-only in the Edit Event dialog.
Because these fields cannot be modified, the event cannot be rescheduled by changing the date or dragging it to another position on the calendar.
Tips
Use the issue search to quickly find the required Jira issue.
Review the automatically populated information before saving the event.
Update editable Jira fields directly from Calendar whenever possible.
