Creating Jira dates events based on new Jira issues
The Create Event dialog provides users with an option to leave the Issue field empty and create a new Jira issue either directly via the app or through the Jira interface.
To create a new Jira issue via the app, skip an issue selection and fill in all required fields on the Create Event dialog.
If the selected Jira dates source is configured for all projects, first you will need to enter a project name into the Project field or select a project from the dropdown list. Then, choose an issue type in the Type field.
Note that the list of issue types depends on the choice of a project.
Introduced in the app version 6.1, once an issue type is selected, the configured issue fields are shown on the Create Event dialog taking into account the fields' context.
By default, the Assignee field is set to Automatic when a new Jira issue is being created via the app.
The Automatic assignee value is taken from the Default Assignee field under the Project settings of the project the event is based on.
You can change the Assignee, if necessary. Next, provide an issue summary in the Summary field. Depending on the source configuration, additional fields can be displayed and filled in on the Create Event dialog. To finalize the event creation, click the Save button.
As soon as the event is saved, a new issue is automatically created in Jira and the event is displayed in a calendar.
Starting the app version 6.1, a Jira issue with a type of Sub-task can be created via the app.
Once the Parent field is configured for the source the event is based on, it will be displayed on the Create Event dialog. Type an issue key in the Parent field and select a parent issue from the list of suggestion.
To save such an event, fill in all the necessary fields and click the Save button.
Create via Jira
Another option to create a new Jira issue is to click the Create via Jira link on the Create Event dialog.
For instance, a user has configured a Jira dates source and added the fields Security Level and Epic Link to the source configuration. Such fields are not editable on the Create Event and Edit Event dialogs.
However, a user can fill in the Security Level and Epic Link fields on the Create issue dialog via the Jira interface.
Once an issue is created, the Jira dates event based on the issue will appear on your calendar.
If the event is double clicked, the values for the fields Security Level and Epic Link are shown on the Edit Event dialog.
