Google Calendar Bridge for Jira: Version 2.0.x
Google Calendar Bridge for Jira
Google Calendar Bridge for Jira synchronizes Jira issues with Google Calendar and displays them as calendar events.
At a glance
With Google Calendar Bridge for Jira, you can:
Create bridges between Jira issues and Google calendars.
Select issues using a Jira project, Jira filter, or JQL.
Use Jira date or date-time fields to schedule Google Calendar events.
Connect and use multiple Google accounts.
Control who can access the app and manage bridges.
Review synchronization activity in audit logs.
Synchronization: every 2 minutes with the paid version and every 15 minutes with the FREE version.
Bridge limit: up to 100 bridges per Jira instance with paid and up to 5 with FREE.
Recommendation: Keep each bridge below 500 Jira issues to reduce the risk of reaching Google synchronization rate limits.
Create a bridge
1. Start bridge creation
Open Google Calendar Bridge for Jira and click Create.
If this is your first bridge, you will need to connect a Google account that has access to the calendar you want to synchronize.
|
|---|
2. Configure the bridge
Select or enter:
Calendar — the Google calendar to synchronize with Jira.
Name — a name for the bridge.
Description — optional information about the bridge.
Filter by — choose how Jira issues should be selected:
Project
Jira filter
JQL
Start field — the Jira date or date-time field used as the event start.
End field — optional Jira date or date-time field used as the event end.
|
|---|
Date field requirements
Keep the following requirements in mind:
If both start and end fields are selected, they must be the same type: date picker or date-time picker.
Start and end fields must be available on the Jira issue Create/Edit screens. Issues without the selected fields on these screens are not synchronized.
Issues with an end date earlier than or equal to the start date are skipped.
Important: Events created in Google Calendar remain there after the bridge is deleted. To make cleanup easier, consider using a separate Google calendar for each bridge.
Connect a Google account
Google Calendar Bridge requires access to your Google calendars to create, edit, and delete synchronized events.
The app also uses your Google profile information to identify the connected account. Your name, email address, and avatar are displayed with the bridge.
The app stores a Google API refresh token to maintain access to the connected Google calendars.
For more information about how Google data is handled, see the Privacy Policy and Google API Services Usage Disclosure.
Use multiple Google accounts
You can connect more than one Google account.
To switch or add an account:
On the Create bridge screen, click Change Google connection.
Select an existing connection.
To connect another account:
Click Connect another Google account.
Complete the Google consent flow.
Return to the app and select the new connection.
|
|---|
Note: Atlassian may take several minutes to update its cache after a new connection is added. If the connection does not appear, click Refresh connection list and try again. The account picture may take a few additional minutes to appear.
Bridge synchronization
Synchronization starts automatically after a bridge is created.
With the paid version, bridges are synchronized every 2 minutes, so Jira changes may take up to approximately 2 minutes to appear in Google Calendar.
A green checkmark next to the bridge indicates a successful synchronization.
If synchronization fails
If a synchronization attempt fails, the app automatically retries with an increasing delay:
2 → 8 → 14 → 20 → 26 minutes
The bridge shows how many retry attempts remain.
If all retry attempts fail, the bridge is suspended. Contact your Jira administrator to review the Audit logs and identify the cause.
Access and permissions
Jira administrators can configure who can use Google Calendar Bridge for Jira and who can manage bridges.
Jira administrators always have access to the app and can view and manage all bridges.
Open the app's Configuration page from Jira administration to manage these settings.

Note: Atlassian may take several minutes to update its cache after a new connection is added. If the connection does not appear, click Refresh connection list and try again. The account picture may take a few additional minutes to appear.
