Setting task duration
A task duration can be set in the following ways:
Drag the left or right end of the task using mouse, and release when done.
Open the Edit dialog via the task context menu or by double clicking the task bar on the timeline. Set desired duration and click Save.
Double click Duration column to edit the duration of a specific task directly in the table using inline editing.
Provide a value for the End date field in the corresponding table column using inline editing.

You can configure a default duration format in User settings by selecting from Days, Hours or Pretty.
If your preferred format differs from Pretty, the duration value in the selected format will be displayed above the Duration field in the Edit dialog.
|
---|
Supported duration units are:
d for days
h for hours
m for minutes
The order of units is not important. So you can type 3d 2h 25m, or 2h 25m 2d
Any unit can be skipped. Example: 2d 15m, or just 3d
Unit values above the limit will be auto-corrected by the app. For instance, if you type 600m, it would be converted to 1d 2h (because 600m equals 10hrs).
Fixed duration
By default, task duration is not fixed.
Exception: If your chart is configured with the option "Calculated based on start and end dates only" for the Duration Calculation setting in the Chart Settings tab, the task duration will be fixed, and it will not be possible to change this behavior.
What Does Fixed Duration Mean in Gantt Suite?
In Gantt Suite, a fixed duration means that the task duration is independent of the task work.
As a result:
When you resize the task in the Timeline, only the duration will change, while the task work remains unaffected.
In the Edit dialog, you can set different values for the task work and duration separately.
In the Edit dialog, a fixed duration is indicated by a checked checkbox next to the Duration field.

If a task duration is specified, the task work will be distributed across the duration days, considering the assigned resource calendar, if applicable.
Example: If the work is 1 day and the duration is 4 days, each of the 4 days will be allocated 2 hours of work, assuming an 8-hour workday.
