Examples: Using Global Calendars in Gantt Suite for Jira
Use Case 1: Company-wide working schedule
Scenario:
As a chart manager, I need my Gantt chart’s main calendar to follow the company’s working schedule, including holidays.
Solution:
Log in to Jira as an admin and open Gantt Suite configuration.
In the Calendars tab, edit the default main chart calendar.
Set working days, working hours, and add overrides for holidays or special schedules.
Result:
All new Gantt charts will inherit this calendar configuration.
The default calendar can be updated anytime.
Changes do not affect existing Gantt charts.
Use Case 2: Keeping charts aligned with the company-wide calendar
Scenario:
As a chart manager, I need both existing and future Gantt charts to reflect updates made in the company-wide calendar.
Solution:
Log in to Jira as an admin and open Gantt Suite configuration.
In the Calendars tab, either:
Edit the default main chart calendar and save it as a global calendar, or
Create a new global calendar that represents the company-wide schedule.
As a chart manager, select this global calendar as the base for your main chart calendar.
Result:
Updating the global calendar keeps all linked charts in sync.
If no overrides are set in the main chart calendar, it will always reflect the latest global updates.
Use Case 3: Personal resource calendars
Scenario:
As a chart manager, I need resource calendars to include personal non-working days (such as vacations or sick leave) across all charts.
Solution:
Each user should go to User Settings → My Calendar.
Add overrides for personal non-working days (vacations, sick leave, etc.).*
As a chart manager, when configuring a resource calendar, select the corresponding user’s calendar as the base.
Result:
Resource calendars automatically reflect personal updates.
If no overrides are applied at the chart level, the calendar will always display the latest changes from the user’s personal calendar.
*- User can select global calendar as base if needed.
