Overview

In 2024 Atlassian introduced per issue limits for list fields in Jira Cloud Issues:

  • 10,000 worklogs

  • 2,000 attachments

  • 2,000 linked issues

  • 2,000 remote links, this includes:

    • web links

    • Confluence pages

    • links to an external issue on a different Jira instance

    • links to other Atlassian products

Issue Limits for Jira helps system administrators identify issues that are approaching or have already reached the imposed limits. Additionally, the app provides a convenient UI for fixing worklog limits.

Issue Limits page

When the admin clicks the Issue Limits FREE menu item, the following page is displayed:

Five rectangles correspond to the Worklogs, Comments, Attachments, Linked Issues, and Remote Links list fields and function as tab switchers. Each rectangle displays the enforced limit and the number of issues that have either breached or are approaching it. Icons provide a visual indication of the status for each list field:

Green Icon: No issues have breached or exceeded the limit.

The Worklogs tab is active by default. Here, the admin can click issue links. Most importantly, each row includes a Fix button to resolve the worklog limit for the corresponding issue.

Fix Worklog Limits dialog

The Fix Worklog Limits dialog looks as shown below:

The administrator can resolve the worklog limit issue by either moving worklogs to another issue or deleting worklogs.

For convenience, the Move and Delete options allow selecting worklog records based on the following criteria:

  • Older than 1 year

  • For a specific period

  • All worklogs

To prevent adjustments to the issue estimates, the "Do not adjust estimate" checkbox should be selected.
