Overview

Bridge for GCal allows you to synchronize your Jira issues with Google Calendar by displaying them as calendar events.

The application requires your Google email, full name, and avatar in order to display this information within the app. In addition, it stores Google API refreshed token to access your Google calendars. Thus, the app has access to the list of calendars and is able to create, edit, or delete the events in selected calendar. More information is provided in Privacy Policy.

Bridge configuration

Bridge creation

To begin, create a new bridge by clicking the 'Create' button. In case you are setting up a bridge for the very first time, you will need to authorize a Google account that contains the calendar you wish to synchronize with Jira.

Google account sign in and permissions

The application requires access to the list of your Google calendars to be able to create, edit, or delete the events. Also, the app needs your profile information in order to identify your Bridge. You will see your Google account's avatar, full name, and email displayed on the created bridge.

Next, select your desired calendar and provide a bridge name. If necessary, add description to the bridge. Then, choose a filter to retrieve specific issues from Jira by selecting either Jira project, Jira filter, or JQL (Jira Query Language). Finally, select a start field, which will be used as the start date or date-time of the Google events. If needed, you can also select an end field date or date-time for the events.

Bridge synchronization

Once you’ve created a bridge, the data synchronization process will start. As a result, a green checkmark icon will appear next to the bridge, indicating that the issues have been synchronized with Google Calendar as calendar events.
